This bobbin celebrates National Lacemaking Day which is celebrated on the second Saturday of September each year in the UK.
With the inscription 'National lacemaking Day' inscribed around the body and the current year's date in a band around the top it is decorated with a lacey ruff top and bottom and has Queen Anne's Lace flowers entwined around the text.

Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Bobbin
We felt it was important to make a bobbin that was not just a memorial but would commemorate, even celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth. This intricate bobbin design takes its inspiration from the Imperial Crown and the flowers that were so prominent on the day. Known for her love of colour, the bobbin references the beautiful variety of pink blooms chosen for the Queen as well as the significance of the rosemary, the oak leaves and the myrtle that accompanied her on her final journey.
This is one of the most intricate designs I’ve made in the last thirty years, but I hope it is a fitting tribute to an extraordinary woman.
