National Lacemaking Day

This bobbin celebrates National Lacemaking Day which is celebrated on the second Saturday of September each year in the UK.
The floral decoration is combined with bands of engraved and painted lacey detail at each end of the bobbin with the inscription National Lacemaking Day amongst the Queen Anne flowers and it is dated 14 09 2024 around the top. The inscription is in lilac, referencing the purple dot.

Design B: £36.75 These compass points are made of pink hearts, symbolising friendship and love around the world, and floral decoration is white daisies.

Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Bobbin
We felt it was important to make a bobbin that was not just a memorial but would commemorate, even celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth. This intricate bobbin design takes its inspiration from the Imperial Crown and the flowers that were so prominent on the day. Known for her love of colour, the bobbin references the beautiful variety of pink blooms chosen for the Queen as well as the significance of the rosemary, the oak leaves and the myrtle that accompanied her on her final journey.
This is one of the most intricate designs I’ve made in the last thirty years, but I hope it is a fitting tribute to an extraordinary woman.
